Anorexia Nervosa and Eating Disorders: The Media, The Culture, The Perceptions
Presented by

About the Speaker:
Miss Heather Chi is currently a 19 year old student doing Geography in the National University of Singapore, and is the Digestive Director of Food for All, a Singapore-based youth initiative to encourage the appreciation of, and respect for, food and those who grow and prepare it.
As a anorexia survivor herself, she mentions that her campaign together with Project WiTHIN has two main objectives: first, to explore creative and effective ways to support eating disorder sufferers and survivors and, second, to encourage a healthy and candid dialogue between eating disorder sufferers and survivors, and the general public, which is an extension to what Project WiTHIN has been doing. Her insights are valuable, not only because of her victory and hard-fought battles over anorexia, but due to her active involvement in a multitude of activities with the aim of helping suffering anorexics win their own war.

Although Kerzner's Sentosa Integrated Resort/Casino bid, designed by the legendary Frank Gehry, did not get selected as the winning design - it is clear that many Singapore residents are still interested in the architect's work and thoughts behind his controversial and mammoth contributions to the world design and architecture. Over the years, the numerous buildings that Frank Gehry has been commissioned to design have acclaimed the status of international landmarks and pieces of art. The audience members shared with enthusiasm and zeal their opinions on Gehry's work and their views on the state of Singapore design and architecture in this day. To encourage discussion and share a few pearls of wisdom with he audience, The Picturehouse invited Mr. Tang Guan Bee who was the architect behind the original Picturehouse back in 1990.
