HULA GIRLS 扶桑花女孩

synopsis

Based on a true story, HULA GIRLS is a heartwarming comedy about coal miners' daughters who take a once-in-a-lifetime chance to escape their monotonous lives, and become unwitting heroes in their depressed mining town and the whole of Japan. It is 1965, old mining towns began their long slow decline as the country started to shift from coal to oil. A small town way up north comes up with an idea to develop Japan's first Hawaiian Village. And what's a Hawaiian Village without a troupe of Hula dancers? The only problem is, no one knows how to do the dance, or even knows what the Hula is! In this hilariously touching comedy, the skepticism and conservatism of the locals is gradually overcome as their daughters fall under the spell of one talented and determined dance instructor from the big city of Tokyo.

synopsis

From France’s celebrated director, Michel Ocelot comes a story of magical adventure. Once upon a time, there were two children who had the same nanny: Azur, blonde and blue-eyed son of the lord of the castle, and Asmar, dark-skinned and black-eyed, the nurse's child. Brought up like brothers, the children are suddenly torn apart. But Azur, haunted by the legend of the Djinn the nanny use to tell him, intends to find it in lands beyond the seas. When they grow up, the two foster brothers each go their separate ways in search of the fairy. Daring rivals, they find magic lands in a medieval Maghreb, full of dangers and enchantments.

THE BLOSSOMING OF MAXIMO OLIVEROS 花样少年

synopsis

Maxi is youngest child of widower, and like nearly everyone in their Manila slum, survives outside of the legal economic grid by selling stolen cell phones, placing bets, etc. Occasionally teased but mostly accepted as a girl in a boy's body, super-femme Maxi dropped out of school to be surrogate "wife," cooking, cleaning and fussing over everyone. He falls in love with handsome policeman Victor, who takes him under his wing platonically, though vibe is near-romantic at times. When Maxi's friend Boy kills a student during a bungled robbery, however, Maxi is caught between protecting his kin and Victor.

THIS FILM IS NOT YET RATED 该片尚未分级

synopsis

Censorship, Uncensored. A breakthrough exposé about the American movie ratings board film ratings system and its profound effect on American culture. The film asks whether Hollywood movies and independent films are rated equally for comparable content; whether sexual content in gay-themed movies is given harsher ratings penalties than their heterosexual counterparts; whether it makes sense that extreme violence is given an R rating while sexuality is banished to the cutting room floor; whether Hollywood studios receive detailed directions as to how to change an NC-17 film into an R, while independent film producers are left guessing; and finally, whether keeping the raters and the rating process secret leaves the MPAA entirely unaccountable for its decisions.
